OWH challenge #33 and "wondering monday"

Hello everyone!

Man, September sure is flying by!!! Guess its good to be this busy....definitely like all these challenges too :) I think Ive made more cards this month, than the past 6 months combined :) I think it should be like this year round!!

Anyway, here is my sketch for challenge #33. The original sketch can be found here.

For the wondering Monday thing, I looked up all the challenges for September, and only found 1 I missed that I really wanted to participate in, and that is the Enjoy the VA Sunshine challenge. Below is my take on the holiday card!

Its a little late here in Germany right now, going on midnight, but just wanted to put in my two cents lol :)

Hope you all enjoy my cards and have a great rest of your week!!!
Til next time,

MWT-Fall Thank You Challenge

Hello there again everyone!

Def been a busy month here for me, Im so excited to be so busy tho....So far this month, Ive gotten 215 cards made for OWH!!! My party made 180 and Ive been busy with everyone else's challenges and whatnots with the rest!! I think we should have challenges like this ALLLLL the time :)

Anyhoo, here is my fall thank you card for the week:

I made these cards initially for the week #30 sketch, but didnt quite have a stamp that fit the card...luckily today, I found my acrylics and saw a "thank you" stamp that fit perfectly and looky what I got out of it :) Im pretty excited about how they all turned out too :) the 2 sheets of fall leaf paper I used for the bases made 8 cards total....and they are cards I would like to say, I made for Small Town Girl's blog challenge! If you havent yet, I would def recommend you visiting her blog :)

Thanks so much for visiting! See you in a couple days for the NEW sketch challenge!

OWH sketch #34 & Family Challenge

Hello there everyone! Another great challenge given to us this week, but first, I would like to show you my pics for the Family Challenge. My computer wouldnt let me open the coloring pages file, but thankfully, OWH is an awesome organization and I was able to get help from fellow cardmakers- Joan J and Yolanda. I was able to print off a couple sets of coloring sheets for my 2 1/2 year old Aidan to color! His favorite things are coloring and puppies, so these Ciara sheets were perfect!! So thank you ladies! You made our weekend!!!

Here is Aidan coloring:

And some of his results (not too bad for a 2 year old!):

And, for the other half of the family challenge, here is my Ciara card:

The Ciara card also makes up for the yellow thank you theme that was needed to make up the Sketch #34 challenge!

Well, Im off of here for now to get some more of these challenges done :) there are some great blog candy opportunities out there, and Ive gotta put my name in for them too! :) Thanks so much for visiting and see you all real soon!

OWH Sketch #32 & Cake Chef Digi :)

Hello everyone!

Just finally got my sketch #32 done, ready to see what #33 looks like here in a minute....def been a busy week here for me! Sure hope Miss Dixie is ready for the package I am sending her later this week!!

Here is the sketch for this past week:

And here are my takes on it(left and right cards):

The chef cake was a free digi from Bits of Cheer blog and available FREE! for use on Operation Write Home cards. This month marks the birthday of Operation Write Home and I think this digi stamp is perfect to use in celebration!

I also made some "hero" cards for 3 lucky daddys out there who love their little girls and want them to know they'll be home soon, thanks to Miss Yolanda at Imagine. Make. Share for making such an adorable digi! These cards also qualify me, I hope, for a super cute truck digi that I just cant wait to try out!

Happy Birthday Operation Write Home!!!

MWT 9.1.10

Hello everyone!

Im doing things a little backwards this week since I got a little behind on my blogging. I had my bday bash for OWH on Friday. I got 75 cards officially made with just 1 guest showing up! All the others had family issues come up and couldnt make it, but we did good just the same! If youd like to see my blog about it, click here.

Halloween is my most favorite holiday! Id rather celebrate that than my own birthday I like it so much! :) I think my creative juices were a little off this week due to all the cards I had to put together on Friday, but Im hoping they turned out ok!

Heres my take on the halloween cards this week. Hope you all enjoy!

Take care and happy crafting!!

My OWH Bday Bash :)

Hello there everyone! Sorry in advance for this being an extra long post, but I was so excited to have my OWH Bday Bash today, I just couldnt wait to post the results! If you havent yet heard about the Bday Bash, you can click here to get more info.

My party was initially planned for tomorrow, but one of my friends made plans and needed the party moved up, so we did it today. Unfortunately, she had a family emergency earlier this week, as did 3 other guests, so only 1 of my friends could make it today anyway :/ There will be other cardmaking parties in the future tho, so no worries, right?!

Here is a pic of all the fun foods my wonderful husband and I made (mini burgers and chips n dip) :

Here is a pic of one of the prizes I put together for each of my guests (several sheets of 12X12 scrapbook paper, 1 box of adhesives, some stickers, ribbon, rubber stamps and chipboard along with some other goodies):

And finally, here is a pic of my only guest and my son who thought he was being a good helper (not too bad for a 2 1/2 year old!) :

And lastly, here are the kits I put together for all my guests (180 cards total):
made 80 cards
made 20 cards
made 20 cards
made 20 cards
made 20 cards
made 20 cards

I hope you all enjoyed this post as much as I did putting it together! Its been a busy week here making sure everything was put together and done for my guests, so now I have to re-check the OWH Stars & Stamps Blog to get making my sketch #32 and the midweek throwdown! I hear there are some goodies to win :)

Take care and I hope my party inspired some of you out there to put together your own and get crafting!!

OWH Challenge #31

Hello there everyone!

Not too much going on here this week....def ready for fall weather, this humidity is killing me! This week's sketch from Operation Write Home is one of my favorites and I know it'll be one that I use over and over again! Its just too cute and simple to NOT use it!

Here is sketch #31:

And these are my takes on it:

Feeling a little lovey-dovey/reminiscent I suppose since my husband is away for the week. I also came across a blog link from Paper Crafts Magazine on Facebook and entered my cards to win some pretty cool stuff! If you think you'd like to enter to win, their link is here: All Things Unity

I hope you all enjoyed and good luck with the winnings if you enter!

OWH Challenge #30

Hello there everyone!

Not too much going on here lately, just dealing with a lot of personal family issues, YAY! Lucky for me, being crafty and making cards always serves as an outlet and helps me calm my nerves, so I was so excited to wake up this morning and see the new challenge sketch was posted! Here is what the sketch looks like :

Here is my take on this weeks challenge:

I made this card wish my son in mind. I was a little scared at first to make a card with a completely black base, but I think overall, it turned out pretty cute!

I hope you all enjoyed this card as much as I did making it! Take care and have a great week ahead!

OWH Sketch #29

Hello everyone!!

I got an email from my team leader at Soldiers Angels (soldiersangels.org) and she said there was a special "Angel" out there who is having a birthday at the end of the month....her only request for her birthday was to get stamps in the mail so she could keep writing to the soldiers overseas :)

This is the special birthday card I made for her, the matting behind the cake stamp is supposed to look like a stamp, but Im afraid it didnt turn out very well....going to have to look into getting some scissors that look like it thats for sure.

Here is my take on the challenge:

As always, I would love to hear your feedback, shows where I can or dont need to improve :)

Thanks so much for taking the time to view my card :)
Have a great week and see you back here for the MWT!!
Take care,

OWH Birthday Bash-Party :)

I spent quite a bit of time yesterday preparing for my Operation Write Home Birthday Bash, (http://www.owhstarsandstamps.org/)cardmaking party!!! I got 80 Christmas card kits done, but its driving me crazy that Im not able to finish them until next month!!

I've decided, the party is going to be on September 4th @ 2:00PM, here at my little apartment in Mannheim, Germany!

I've already got 2 confirmed guests, which is good in my book...my apartment is pretty tiny and I dont know that many people around post who knows how or likes to make cards anyway.

We are going to have snacks and drinks, and maybe a little music or something fun to do while we make cards. Its going to be a nice break from all of our children...4 boys, under the age of 5!! Crazy!

Below is a picture of my christmas card kit as well as a pic of just the card itself.
I feel like something is still missing, like a button or something between the image and the lettering....if any of you have any advice, that would be super!!

Thanks so much for checking out my blog, as always, have a fantastical weekend and coming week :)

Take care,
~Turtle~

Advice Needed: OWH Bday Bash Party

Hello there all my fellow crafters! I am throwing together a Birthday Bash Celebration Cardmaking Party for Operation Write Home (operationwritehome.org) on September 4th and have a question for you all: out of the 28 sketch challenges we have had, which one has been your favorite? I am inviting people I know of who scrapbook, but don't necessarily make cards, so I need an easy, fun layout! Thank you so very much!

Here is my midweek throwdown card, using just scraps and a tiny bit of ink :) enjoy!!

Challenge #28 for OWH

Hey there everyone! Been one super busy weekend, but I threw myself into my card making tonight anyway! I just had to get back in the habit of working on my blog and trying to get at least one card made per challenge. I got over 50 cards made for the month of June, so Im trying to beat my record there as well!

Here is the challenge for this week:

And here is my take on it:

I cheated on the horizontal stripes (instead of using individual strips, i used a piece of paper with lines on it), but I think overall, the card turned out really well! I just hope it brings a smile on some little boys face when they get it in the mail from their hero!

Have a great week all you crafty critters and thanks so much for stopping in to see my card!

Take care,
~Turtle~

OWH Sketch #22

Hey there everyone! Another Monday, brings about another card :) I am just so addicted to making cards for OWH, I am so thrilled that they have these sketches every Sunday so I can get inspired even more to make different kinds of cards!

I have been in this Birthday card hunt ever since the July 2nd Blog Tour was posted, but seems its always hard to make cards without a specific person in mind....so, I decided, Im going to make little boy birthday cards, with my son in mind. I know there are a lot of parents deployed right now, as there always is, and someone is going to need to send their little boy a birthday card at some point! I hope it makes their little guy's day when he gets it in the mail too!

I have been watching TwoPeasInABucket videos on youtube a lot lately, and Kristina makes some very beautiful cards....and I noticed, a lot of her cards have a white "Faux" stitch look to them with gel pen, so I thought I would give it a shot too, and I think it turned out kinda cute!

Well, Im off to make more cards, hope you all enjoyed! Take care and Happy Scrapping :)

MWT- Bling!

Hey all! Not sure if this card even fits the "bling" criteria, but Im so proud of it, I just have to post it anyway lol.....The picture doesnt really do the card justice, I am just in love with the way this turned out!

In real life, the silver stamped "I Love You" shimmers and is kinda bling-like :)

Hope you all enjoyed, and thanks so much for taking the time to check out my place!
Take care and have a great weekend~4 day here for the husband, so we are taking our kiddo to the parks here in Germany! Finally, some exploring time! Maybe I'll find some more inspiration to get more cards made! 41 so far this month, almost beat my previous record!!

Take care,
~Turtle~

OWH Challenge #21!!!

I first off would like to wish everyone a Happy Flag Day! Its the Army's 235th Birthday today!! WoOt! I have a very special birthday wish of my own to shout out as well....my husband turned 25 today!! :) He is the reason I started making cards for OWH- he is an American Soldier :)

I am soooo looking forward to sunday nights now....I get to see what kind of new layout you awesome ladies are bringing me for the week :) I must say, when I started this blog, I thought the first sketch was going to be my favorite, but I was proven wrong! This one is definitely my favorite now, especially since I am trying to cut down my scrap pile!

Here is the sketch for the week:

And here is my take on the sketch, turned sideways:

I hope you are all having a good monday, a perfect start to a super week! Thank you, as always, for taking the time to have a looksie at my page, I hope I was able to inspire you just a little to get out there and make some cards for OWH!! :) I know I will be making more tonight :)

Take care and see ya for the midweek showdown in just a couple more days :)

OWH Midweek Throwdown-Shipper's Choice (Masculine Cards)

Hey there everyone!

We had an awesome thunderstorm here last night in Mannheim, Germany! I just love thunderstorms!! It calmed me down some and brought back some of my creative juices, so I tried to get this challenge over with while I still had them :) It has been super hot over here lately, and everyone has been BBQing out on their grills and kids are always running around, so I thought this card would be a perfect summertime card! It can be used for "Father's Day", a general "I miss you", or just a simple, "Hello, Im thinking of you today" card! Enjoy! :)

Masculine cards seem to be a challenge in itself for me lately. I made A LOT of Father's Day cards earlier this year to send to Operation Write Home (operationwritehome.org) and just haven't had the energy or ambition I guess to get into making more....but, thankfully, for this challenge, I found the energy to get some masculine cards done!

Thank you so much for taking the time to check out my card, I hope you enjoyed and maybe even got a little inspired to go make your own masculine card! I know I usually get my own inspiration from the ladies on OWH blogs!! :)

Operation Write Home, sketch challenge #20

Hello there! This is my 2nd official challenge so far thru OWH and I do have to admit, I am hooked! I have made cards using some of their other sketches, but I didnt have a blog before to show them off! I finally understood what a blog was when I checked out all the beautiful Red, White, & Blue/Miss You themed cards for the Memorial Day Bloghop.....so that day, last Saturday, I made up my very own blog!!! It is so easy to get hooked on, I just love it!

Well, without further delay, here is my 2nd OWH sketch challenge card! It proves just what else I am addicted to--Chocolate!!!! Hope you all enjoy, I know I loved making this card!

This is my very first card ever made that 1-doesnt have a stamp on it anywhere, and 2-opens up sideways!!

Pot of Gold, color challenge for OWH

Hello there everyone! I tried to find something gold in my stash of stuff, but very quickly realized I dont have hardly anything metallic! One of the few things I had was some Christmas Ribbon....so Im afraid my card is a tiny bit plain, but I hope it'll work for this challenge! I am so hooked on this blog thing, I cant wait to see what OWH has in store for me!!

(Ribbon up close)

Take Care and have a fantastic day!! ~Turtle!~

OWH Sketch Challenge #19 (#1 for me!)

Today has been a hard day for my family. Of course, being here in Germany, I dont always get to hear the news until its afternoon my time :( My brother had to make the tough decision this morning to have his 16 year old dog, Lady (Lab/Shepherd mix) put to sleep. She has been in our family since she was 8 weeks old and my brother and i were 8 (me) and 6 (greg) years old! She had a beautiful litter of puppies in 2000 and was just an all around good family dog! She will be missed. As a loving gesture to my little brother, I have decided to make him a sympathy card in remembrance of his dog, Lady. I figured I would use the OWH sketch challenge #19 AND the gold color challenge to give him an extra special card!!

[my brother with his dogs, Lady (left) and Jack]
