sketch 56

Good Afternoon Everyone!!

Another busy week here in Germany :) Everyone is healing fine from our accident last week and we are now focusing on getting the house in order so we can get ready for our big move back to the States! I am getting sooo super duper excited, but nervous at the same time....Im kind of addicted to my scrapbooking supplies, but can only pack a 50 pound suitcase....and clothes are kind of a must lol....so Im torn between what to pack, and what to leave behind :/

Anyhoo, here is the sketch for week 56, and below is my take on it. I combined last week's MWT with this week's sketch and voila, here ya go :)

Hope you are all having a beautiful week and HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!!! <3

sketch #55

Hello there everyone!

This sure has been one busy week.....My husband and I have been married for 4 years today!!! We drove to Berlin on Tuesday for a little anniversary vacation and did a little site-seeing to Checkpoint Charlie, Brandenburg Gate, what's left of the Berlin Wall, lots of fun history stuff to see! Then, on our way home on Wednesday afternoon, we wrecked our car on the Autobahn and had to spend the night in the hospital :/ My husband and I had to stay overnight because I hit my head on the dashboard of our car pretty hard, so they wanted to make sure I didnt have a concussion. Luckily, our son came out of the accident without a scratch!!! Not too many people can say that when it comes to crashes on the autobahn! We got to come home super early this morning and with my sore head, I managed to make this card:

The sketch challenge #55 for Operation Write Home can be found here. I loved the sketch for this week, but was not very impressed by the way mine turned out lol. I think we are all our worst critics sometimes tho, so Im just hoping the person who gets this card likes it enough to send it home to someone they love :)

Happy Friday to you all! Now I'm off to try out this week's Mid-Week Throwdown!!
Happy Crafting to you all!

Focal Point Seminar Cards

Hello there everyone!

Just wanted to post these super cute cards! I absolutely fell in love with the Dora card on the Focal Point Seminar by OWH, and decided I wanted to make some cards like that myself! They arent as perfect as the Dora sample, but I think they still turned out super cute! Enjoy and happy crafting!!

MWT-Farm Animals

Hello everyone!

This week's midweek throwdown has been both challenging and awesome :) Challenging because I found THE cutest farm image ever, but had absolutely NO background paper or embellishments that would go with it :/ It was awesome because it reminds me of the big red barn that sits in front of my Mom's house, which I will be seeing in person, in 26 days!

I hope someone's little one will like this, I know I would!!

Happy Groundhog's Day!! Hope you are all having a beautiful week and I'll see you back here next week for the week 55 sketch challenge!

Sketch #54

Hello there everyone!

It's starting to feel like winter again here in Germany, we even got a dusting of snow last night....we've had a couple of weeks of nice, bearable weather, now its starting to feel like Christmas all over again lol....Since it's so cold outside, my Aidan and I stay inside and do fun crafts together! He is a Play-Doh addict and I make my cards while he's in play mode. I am astonished to see that we can both play at the dining room table together without getting in each other's way....or making a bigger mess!

This week's sketch is for week 54, and you can find the sketch for it here. My take on it was inspired by the focal point seminar posted on the OWH blog, but looks a little different than the sketch because I couldn't find a scrap piece of paper that went with the colors I used, but also didn't compete too much with the red and yellow I already had going on....I hope it looks ok as is though! I have a whole stock pile of cartoon stickers, so I think I will be making a lot more cards like this!

I love to be able to help our deployed heroes write and send some love home to the special kids in their lives!

Hope you are all having a beautiful week, and for those of you getting all that snow back home, I hope you don't have to go out in it, but if you do, try to stay warm and safe!
Happy crafting,
Turtle aka Sara

sketch #53 & kids cards

Hello everyone!

Here is week #53 for Operation Write Home! I have also combined it with the Mid-week throwdown, Cards for Kids. This week's sketch was a blast to do, it helped me get rid of some more scraps too, which is a real good deal because we are getting ready to move back to the states next month, and the less I have to take back with me the better! I made 10 cards this week using this sketch, and I think they all turned out beautiful!! I hope you enjoy them too!!

sketch 52 and the new 34

Hey there everyone :)

I think I have forgotten about sketch 51 lol, but if I find it, I will def be posting! I have forgotten how much inspiration I get just from looking at all of the other beautiful cards you ladies post! They are just awesome!

Here is this week's sketch, #52, bringing about 1 full year of sketches! I didnt't have a circle punch to add to the sketch itself, but used the ribbon as an accent piece anyway :) I just love my little snowman card!!

Also, I tried the optional sketch #34, and came up with this: a super cute baby card :)

Now I am off to figure out what to do for sketch #53!! Hope you all had a beautiful weekend and have an even more beautiful week ahead!!
Happy Crafting!

My New Year's Resolution for OWH

Hello everyone! I can't believe it's been almost 4 months since I've blogged about any Operation Write Home cards! I have definitely been slacking and even though I'm not very proud of that, I am making a comeback and 2011 is going to be better than ever!

My New Year's resolution for OWH this year is:
1) To make cards using ONLY materials from my scrap bin! (embellishments not included, lol) It has grown and grown these past few months on account of me opening my own paper crafts business, Paper Crafts by Turtle but I have also been catching up on scrapbooking a lot too!

2) I made 556 cards for OWH last year, starting in February, so my goal is to at least beat it even if it's only by 1 card! I managed to make 310 for the birthday bash last year, so I'm hoping that's where a lot of my comeback will come this year as well!

Anyway, I have posted here my very first OWH card of 2011 along with a couple more which I just absolutely love! I hope you enjoy and I will be here weekly starting this coming Sunday with sketch challenge #51!

Thanks so much for your time and lovely comments, I have missed them!

Man, September sure is flying by!!! Guess its good to be this busy....definitely like all these challenges too :) I think Ive made more cards this month, than the past 6 months combined :) I think it should be like this year round!!

Anyway, here is my sketch for challenge #33. The original sketch can be found here.

For the wondering Monday thing, I looked up all the challenges for September, and only found 1 I missed that I really wanted to participate in, and that is the Enjoy the VA Sunshine challenge. Below is my take on the holiday card!

Its a little late here in Germany right now, going on midnight, but just wanted to put in my two cents lol :)

MWT-Fall Thank You Challenge

Hello there again everyone!

Def been a busy month here for me, Im so excited to be so busy tho....So far this month, Ive gotten 215 cards made for OWH!!! My party made 180 and Ive been busy with everyone else's challenges and whatnots with the rest!! I think we should have challenges like this ALLLLL the time :)

Anyhoo, here is my fall thank you card for the week:

I made these cards initially for the week #30 sketch, but didnt quite have a stamp that fit the card...luckily today, I found my acrylics and saw a "thank you" stamp that fit perfectly and looky what I got out of it :) Im pretty excited about how they all turned out too :) the 2 sheets of fall leaf paper I used for the bases made 8 cards total....and they are cards I would like to say, I made for Small Town Girl's blog challenge! If you havent yet, I would def recommend you visiting her blog :)

Thanks so much for visiting! See you in a couple days for the NEW sketch challenge!

OWH sketch #34 & Family Challenge

Hello there everyone! Another great challenge given to us this week, but first, I would like to show you my pics for the Family Challenge. My computer wouldnt let me open the coloring pages file, but thankfully, OWH is an awesome organization and I was able to get help from fellow cardmakers- Joan J and Yolanda. I was able to print off a couple sets of coloring sheets for my 2 1/2 year old Aidan to color! His favorite things are coloring and puppies, so these Ciara sheets were perfect!! So thank you ladies! You made our weekend!!!

Here is Aidan coloring:

And some of his results (not too bad for a 2 year old!):

And, for the other half of the family challenge, here is my Ciara card:

The Ciara card also makes up for the yellow thank you theme that was needed to make up the Sketch #34 challenge!

Well, Im off of here for now to get some more of these challenges done :) there are some great blog candy opportunities out there, and Ive gotta put my name in for them too! :) Thanks so much for visiting and see you all real soon!

OWH Sketch #32 & Cake Chef Digi :)

Hello everyone!

Just finally got my sketch #32 done, ready to see what #33 looks like here in a minute....def been a busy week here for me! Sure hope Miss Dixie is ready for the package I am sending her later this week!!

Here is the sketch for this past week:

And here are my takes on it(left and right cards):

The chef cake was a free digi from Bits of Cheer blog and available FREE! for use on Operation Write Home cards. This month marks the birthday of Operation Write Home and I think this digi stamp is perfect to use in celebration!

I also made some "hero" cards for 3 lucky daddys out there who love their little girls and want them to know they'll be home soon, thanks to Miss Yolanda at Imagine. Make. Share for making such an adorable digi! These cards also qualify me, I hope, for a super cute truck digi that I just cant wait to try out!

Happy Birthday Operation Write Home!!!

MWT 9.1.10

Hello everyone!

Im doing things a little backwards this week since I got a little behind on my blogging. I had my bday bash for OWH on Friday. I got 75 cards officially made with just 1 guest showing up! All the others had family issues come up and couldnt make it, but we did good just the same! If youd like to see my blog about it, click here.

Halloween is my most favorite holiday! Id rather celebrate that than my own birthday I like it so much! :) I think my creative juices were a little off this week due to all the cards I had to put together on Friday, but Im hoping they turned out ok!

Heres my take on the halloween cards this week. Hope you all enjoy!

Take care and happy crafting!!

My OWH Bday Bash :)

Hello there everyone! Sorry in advance for this being an extra long post, but I was so excited to have my OWH Bday Bash today, I just couldnt wait to post the results! If you havent yet heard about the Bday Bash, you can click here to get more info.

My party was initially planned for tomorrow, but one of my friends made plans and needed the party moved up, so we did it today. Unfortunately, she had a family emergency earlier this week, as did 3 other guests, so only 1 of my friends could make it today anyway :/ There will be other cardmaking parties in the future tho, so no worries, right?!

Here is a pic of all the fun foods my wonderful husband and I made (mini burgers and chips n dip) :

Here is a pic of one of the prizes I put together for each of my guests (several sheets of 12X12 scrapbook paper, 1 box of adhesives, some stickers, ribbon, rubber stamps and chipboard along with some other goodies):

And finally, here is a pic of my only guest and my son who thought he was being a good helper (not too bad for a 2 1/2 year old!) :

And lastly, here are the kits I put together for all my guests (180 cards total):
made 80 cards
made 20 cards
made 20 cards
made 20 cards
made 20 cards
made 20 cards

I hope you all enjoyed this post as much as I did putting it together! Its been a busy week here making sure everything was put together and done for my guests, so now I have to re-check the OWH Stars & Stamps Blog to get making my sketch #32 and the midweek throwdown! I hear there are some goodies to win :)

Take care and I hope my party inspired some of you out there to put together your own and get crafting!!

Hello there everyone!

Not too much going on here this week....def ready for fall weather, this humidity is killing me! This week's sketch from Operation Write Home is one of my favorites and I know it'll be one that I use over and over again! Its just too cute and simple to NOT use it!

Here is sketch #31:

And these are my takes on it:

Feeling a little lovey-dovey/reminiscent I suppose since my husband is away for the week. I also came across a blog link from Paper Crafts Magazine on Facebook and entered my cards to win some pretty cool stuff! If you think you'd like to enter to win, their link is here: All Things Unity

I hope you all enjoyed and good luck with the winnings if you enter!
